Epilogue

John turned the captain‟s wheel, steering his boat due east toward the mainland. He still

couldn‟t believe all that had happened. He‟d arrived on the island hoping for a simple photo or

two, and he‟d ended up with a story that would make his career—a huge, shocking, worldwide

feature for which he‟d been promised the exclusive. Soon he‟d be rich beyond his wildest

dreams!

He shook his head. And to think he‟d almost gone home the other night after he‟d tried to

hook up with one of the extras at the cast party. She‟d choked and bitten him, the stupid bitch.

Nobody appreciated investigative reporters.

He settled himself in for the long boat ride back. He couldn‟t wait to get home and file his

story—after lunch, of course. ‟Cause right now he was pretty hungry.

He just hoped the diner by the dock was serving chicken.
